What the order must contain

Take this list to your doctor's appointment. A missing item means the order has to be corrected later, which costs you time.

Personal details

Full name, date of birth and address of the patient.

Diagnosis

The medical diagnosis justifying occupational therapy, ideally with a short note on the treatment goal.

Service

The explicit wording "occupational therapy" and the number of sessions ordered.

Date

Date of issue. Start therapy promptly so the order stays valid.

Stamp and signature

Practice stamp including the ZSR number and the doctor's own signature.

Payer

A note on whether health insurance, accident, disability or military insurance settles the bill.

Three steps to therapy

01

Get the order

Ask your family doctor or treating specialist. Psychiatry, neurology, rheumatology and orthopaedics all order occupational therapy.

02

Send it to us

Email a photo or scan in advance so we can check the order before you come. Bring the original to your first appointment.

03

Appointment and billing

We bill your insurer directly where the conditions are met. Your deductible and co-payment remain with you.

Coverage and scope

With a valid medical order, occupational therapy is a mandatory benefit of Swiss basic health insurance. A series of nine sessions is customary; your doctor can extend it. For longer courses insurers ask for a progress report and prior cost approval. Deductible and co-payment apply as with any other medical service.

Without an order we are happy to treat you as a self-payer. That is straightforward, fast and involves no report to your insurer. We tell you the rate in advance.

This overview does not replace medical or insurance advice. What your doctor and your insurer state takes precedence.

Redeem your prescription

Send us a photo or scan of your order. You will hear back within 48 hours with a proposed appointment in Zurich.
