Germany · Remedy prescription
Your prescription for occupational therapy in Germany.
In Germany occupational therapy is a prescribed remedy. Here is what belongs on the prescription, which deadlines apply, what you pay yourself and how to redeem it at our practice in Berlin-Mitte.
Redeem prescriptionWhat the prescription must contain
Check the prescription while you are still at the doctor's. An incomplete form has to be corrected before we are allowed to treat.
Patient and insurer
Name, date of birth, insurance number and the issuing practice with its identification numbers.
Diagnosis and group
The diagnosis with ICD code and the diagnosis group from the remedy catalogue.
Leading symptoms
The impairment the therapy actually addresses.
Remedy and quantity
The prescribed remedy, the number of treatment units and the weekly frequency.
Date and signature
Date of issue, practice stamp and signature. Without them the prescription cannot be billed.
Special notes
For example home visits, a therapy report or a note on special prescription requirements.
Three steps to therapy
Get the prescription
Family medicine, neurology, psychiatry, paediatrics and orthopaedics all prescribe occupational therapy. Describe concretely what fails in everyday life - that makes prescribing easier.
Secure an appointment
Treatment must start within a deadline after the date of issue, so contact us ideally on the same day.
Treatment and billing
We bill your statutory health insurer. You only pay the statutory co-payment unless you are exempt.
Costs, deadlines and private prescriptions
Statutorily insured adults pay the statutory co-payment per prescription and per treatment. If your insurer has granted an exemption, simply bring it to the first appointment. Treatment must begin within a deadline after the date of issue; if it lapses, the practice has to issue a new prescription.
Privately insured patients receive a private prescription and an invoice from us at the usual rates, which you submit to your insurer. You are also welcome as a self-payer without any prescription - we tell you the rate in advance.
This overview does not replace medical or insurance advice. What your medical practice and your health insurer state takes precedence.
Redeem your prescription
Send us a photo or scan of your prescription. You will hear back within 48 hours with a proposed appointment in Berlin.
