Performance & Mental Capacity

Performance begins in the mind.

For people who want to work on their performance – or have to. In sport, at work, in business. TAF180 trains the part that decides between delivery and breakdown long before talent, technique and effort come into play: the mind.

Zero error tolerance: what is missed on the ground can no longer be corrected in the air.

When performance no longer comes by itself

Sustained load without recovery

You have to deliver more, but the reserves are running thin.

Pressure in the decisive moment

Exam, competition, negotiation, stage – and the mind refuses.

Comeback after a breakdown

Back to your level after illness, crisis or collapse.

A longer way to fall

More responsibility, more visibility, less room for error.

Focus and concentration

Distraction, rumination and inner restlessness cost measurable performance.

Standards that slow you down

The perfectionism that made you strong becomes a brake.

Why working with me makes sense

I did not learn high performance in a seminar room, but in a high-performance organisation that does not offer a second chance. As a professional soldier I served as a helicopter technician – responsible for one of the most demanding technical systems there is. A helicopter tolerates no errors and no downtime. What is missed on the ground can no longer be corrected in the air.

“A helicopter forgives no mistake. The mind decides whether you make one.”

In that zero-tolerance culture I learned what really carries performance: concentration when you are tired. Care when no one is watching. Calm when things get tight. And the ability to judge your own condition realistically instead of fooling yourself. Discipline without self-awareness leads to breakdown.

From there I built a second path: occupational therapist, specialist in psychological therapy, doctorate in rehabilitation science, university professor. I know high performance from both sides – from the practice that demands it and from the science that explains why it collapses. That combination is what you get here: no motivational rhetoric, but clinically grounded work on what happens in the mind before the body delivers.

What we actually work on

Regulating your state under pressure

Breathing, attention and tension deliberately controlled.

Focus instead of rumination

Putting attention where it creates performance.

Inner dialogue

Self-talk that carries you instead of sabotaging you.

Dealing with mistakes

Learning from errors without breaking on them.

Routines and checklists

Reliable procedures for the moments that count.

Recovery

Recovery as part of performance, not as a reward for it.

How we work

1

Locate the problem

Where exactly does performance break down – and under which conditions?

2

Separate the causes

Psychological, physical and structural factors kept clearly apart.

3

Train

Concrete mental tools that hold up in everyday life and under pressure.

4

Test under load

Check what holds in real pressure situations – and sharpen it.

Frequently asked questions

Is this mental training or therapy?

We start with performance. If a condition requiring treatment shows up behind it, I can continue seamlessly as a psychological therapist and occupational therapist working in the sense of psychotherapy – without you having to change practitioner.

Who is this for?

For competitive athletes, executives, entrepreneurs, students in exam periods and everyone who has to deliver reliably under pressure.

How quickly does it work?

You take the first tools home from the first session. Our online self-study course “Balance” can support the process. Stable change usually needs several appointments over a few weeks.

Where does it take place?

In Zurich, in Berlin and online. Online works well for performance topics because we can start directly in your everyday routine.

I look forward to our conversation – find out where working with me personally makes the difference. Since 1995 I have accompanied people as an executive coach, psychological therapist and occupational therapist – with the 180° Model I developed.
