What are learning difficulties?
Learning difficulties are persistent problems taking in, retaining or applying knowledge although the opportunity and the effort are there. They range from specific learning disorders such as dyslexia or dyscalculia, through attention-related problems in ADHD, to learning blocks that arise from stress, anxiety or exhaustion.
What matters is the cause, not the label. The same difficulty may lie in a specific learning disorder, in missing strategies or in an emotional block, and each needs a different route. That is why clarification always comes first.
Why learning is more demanding today
People with high responsibility and their families keep learning throughout life, under time pressure and alongside a full workload. Pressure between career and family leaves little room for focused, rested learning. And rapid change through artificial intelligence and social transformation forces people to master something new again and again in a short time, which exposes old learning weaknesses and creates new blocks.
We therefore look at learning within the whole system of load, recovery, attention and anxiety – the logic of the 180 degree model: understand the mechanism, stabilise the system, then change direction.
Typical signs
Effort without return
A lot of time invested, little retained, and a result that does not match the effort.
Specific learning disorder
Persistent problems with reading, writing or arithmetic that remain despite practice.
Attention
Distractibility, forgetting, and difficulty with structure and planning, often within ADHD.
Exam anxiety
Knowledge is available in preparation and blocked in the exam, with physical symptoms.
Missing strategies
Learning without a system, everything at once, just before the deadline and without consolidation.
Avoidance
The material is postponed because failure is expected, and the gap keeps growing.

Frequently asked questions
What are learning difficulties?
Learning difficulties are persistent problems taking in, retaining or applying knowledge despite effort and opportunity. They range from specific disorders such as dyslexia or dyscalculia, through ADHD-related problems, to learning blocks caused by stress, anxiety or exhaustion.
Do they only affect children?
No. Adults are affected too, for example in further education, university, retraining or when learning new technologies. Often a long-overlooked ADHD or a specific learning disorder only becomes visible at that point.
How is the cause clarified?
Through structured assessment: we distinguish specific learning disorders, attention problems, emotional blocks and unhelpful learning strategies. Only then does a fitting plan emerge, instead of generic study tips.
Can learning strategies really change?
Yes. Learning is trainable. With suitable methods, realistic planning, less distraction and work on exam anxiety, results usually improve markedly, regardless of age.
What do stress and sleep have to do with learning?
A great deal. Under stress and with too little sleep, memory works less well and what is learned is not consolidated. That is why sleep, recovery and anxiety regulation belong in every learning support.
Does it work online?
Yes. Learning support, strategy training and exam preparation work very well by video, often directly with your own study material.
